Have you heard about Ayurveda but aren’t quite sure where to begin? You’re in the right place — and I’d love to introduce you to some of the basics.
Ayurveda is one of the world’s oldest systems of medicine, and it’s stood the test of time for a reason. Its holistic approach is needed now more than ever. It’s built on one simple truth: true health comes from balance — between your mind, body, and spirit.
What makes Ayurveda so powerful is that it recognizes something modern medicine often overlooks: you are completely unique.
There’s no one-size-fits-all plan here — your ideal diet, your daily rhythm, even your stress patterns depend on you.
This might explain why that “perfect diet” that worked wonders for your best friend made you feel off… or why someone else’s 5 a.m. miracle morning just leaves you cranky by 9. 😅
There’s no single “right” way to live well — only the right way for you.
(If you’re curious about how this individuality shows up in Ayurveda, check out my post on the 3 bio-energies — it’s a great next step!)
🪷 The 3 Pillars of Health
Ayurveda teaches that your health rests on three main pillars — kind of like a tripod. If one side weakens, your whole system feels it.
They are:✨ Proper Nourishment💤 Proper Rest⚡ Proper Energy Use
Let’s break them down 👇
✨ 1. Proper Nourishment
You’ve probably guessed this one has to do with your diet — and yes, that’s definitely part of it. But Ayurveda looks much deeper.
It’s not just what you eat — it’s everything you take in:
The water you drink
The air you breathe
The sounds you listen to
The things you watch and read
Even the colors and fabrics you wear (your skin feels those all day long!)
So nourishment isn’t just about calories or nutrients — it’s about quality in every sense.
Ask yourself:
“What am I feeding my senses right now? Does this uplift me or drain me?”
Those two questions alone can change so much. 🌸
😴 2. Proper Rest
This goes way beyond “getting 7–8 hours of sleep.”
Proper rest means giving your body and mind the space to truly rejuvenate.
It’s one of the first things I focus on with clients, because without rest, nothing else works well. You can’t digest properly, think clearly, or make good choices when your body’s running on fumes.
Most of us know the basics — eat dinner a few hours before bed, limit screens, keep your space cool, dark, and cozy. But what if you can’t fall asleep, or wake up at 2 a.m. replaying everything that ever happened? 🙃
That’s where learning how to actually relax (not just crash) makes all the difference.
And for those nights when sleep just doesn’t happen? I teach simple ways to recharge naturally — without depending on caffeine, sugar, or carbs. Because your energy shouldn’t come from a coffee cup. ☕
⚡ 3. Proper Energy Use
This pillar is all about learning how to manage your energy — physically and emotionally.
It’s knowing when to push and when to pause. It’s using your energy wisely instead of burning out or bottling it all in.
If you’ve ever eaten or drunk way too much at dinner, you know that heavy, “ugh” feeling of overindulgence. And if you’ve ever skipped meals, gotten hangry, or gone too long without water — hello, underindulgence.
But it’s not just food or drink. The same goes for:
📱 Too much screen time vs. not enough quiet time
🛋️ A “rotting in bed” day vs. never slowing down to rest
💬 Overcommitting vs. avoiding everything
We all swing between the two — the key is learning your unique balance point.
Once you start noticing how your energy flows — what drains it and what fills it — you can use it in ways that support you instead of depleting you.
🌿 Bringing It All Together
When you start strengthening these three pillars, everything else begins to shift — your mood, digestion, energy, sleep, and even how you show up for yourself.
It’s not about perfection. It’s about paying attention — listening to your body’s signals and adjusting with compassion, not pressure.
💬 Let’s Reflect
If this sparked something in you, I’d love to hear about it.
👉 Which pillar feels strongest for you right now?
👉 And which one could use a little more love?
Share your reflections in the comments — I’d genuinely love to know. 🌿
